Featuring Lynn "Chirps" Smith, Jim Nelson, Fred Campeau
Chirps Smith, Fred Campeau and Jim Nelson have been playing together since sometime in the mid-1980s when they got together in the Volo Bogtrotters. They play the real rough and ready, authentic stuff, often learned during visits with elder musicians from previous generations, or from field recordings, or from 78 RPM records excavated from piles found in dusty flea markets, the forgotten corners of antique stores, the basements of funky record stores, or the occasional old barn. Although the Volos have been their primary creative outlet over the past four decades, these guys have a special and intuitive musical bond that brings out the best of each of them in this more intimate and laid back trio setting. Look for some great fiddle tunes, obscure old folk songs, and perhaps a few surprises.
